Ireland is a beautiful green island and its geography makes it ideal for driving.

- Before deciding for a Irish car rental please keep in mind that there is the left-side driving system in Ireland.

- You will see, that the price of car hire in Ireland can be very different  if you are lucky, you can get good, low rates, but if you do not make search for lowest rate, then you will probably pay higher price&

Ireland car rental insurance

- Unlike in United States, Irish car hire companies usually include the basic insurance cost in their car rental price (Third Party Liability Insurance). Make sure your Ireland car rental company explains to you whether CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) or Super CDW is included (if it isn't, Ireland car hire will usually charge up to $14/day for this insurance).
- Make sure that windshields, undercarriage and tires are all included in your CDW at your Ireland car rental.

Ireland car hire taxes

- Some Ireland car rental companies include the VAT  Value added tax of 13,5% in the price while other do not. Make sure your Ireland car rental clarifies to you the price before you order a car.
- There is a road tax of approx. $1,50/day applicable at all Ireland car rentals.

- Similar to US, Ireland car rental companies will charge extra cost for each additional driver.
- Most Ireland car rentals will charge the so-called Airport Surcharge if you rent your vehicle at the airport.

Manual and Automatic transmission

- As everywhere in Europe, most cars from Ireland car rental companies come with manual transmission. If you would like to rent a car in Ireland with automatic transmission you should specify it in your reservation - these cars are usually more expensive to rent, than those with manual transmission.

Driving licence

-It is hardly surprising that you need a valid driving license to hire a car in Ireland. However, most Ireland car rentals will require you to hold your driving license for at least two years without endorsements.

Ireland One-Way Rentals

One-way rentals are possible in Ireland. Most Irish car rentals do not charge any additional fees for domestic one-way hire.
There is no possibility so far of international car hires from Ireland with the only exception to Belfast, Northern Ireland.
